Neurogenetics and Psychiatric Diseases
The focus of this research is to understand what factors (environmental and genetic) and what molecular mechanisms that cause conditions such as depression, alcohol addiction and eating disorders.
Groups
-
The focus of the group´s research are molecular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders and addiction.
-
The group is focused on epigenetics, in particular how epigenetic mechanisms affect disease and cooperate with the genome in autoimmune diseases. Part of the research is on viral interactions with the host cell and possible implications for brain cancer.
-
We focus on understanding how genes and environment contribute to development and treatment of psychiatric disorders such as depression, bipolar disease, schizophrenia and anorexia. We also focus on the anorectic state that is sometimes observed in end state renal disease, often in combination with cardivascular complications and inflammation.

The section of Translational Neuropharmacology studies receptor-mediated processes involved in the etiologies of Parkinson´s disease and Depression. Studies are conducted both in preclinical models and in specimens from patients.
