BC Biocomputing
CMM has decided to invest in a software system for data management in research projects. With the new advancement in genotyping techniques overwhelming amounts of data are created. In order to analyze this data efficiently it is important to store it in an ordered, trackable and easily accessible fashion. It is also important to have phenotypes (clinical or others) accessible as well as information concerning sample storage. All these functions and many more are available in the Biocomputing Platform systems. Collaborations between research groups with in CMM will also be facilitated if we are using the same format for data management.
CMM will centrally invest in computers as well as database software for data management. Research groups within CMM can then decide to use the system if they find it useful. The cost for each research group will be split into two halves an investment cost when they start using the system and a yearly license fee. The cost per group will depend on which modules are used by the group, how much data is stored and the number of users in the group as detailed below. In the cost is included training by staff from the Biocomputing Platform company. It is possible to ass extra modules as the group finds a need for them. Each user logs onto the system from their own computer via the CMM network.

* One of these modules needs to be included. In these modules BC/Clin for management of clinical data is included. The system also included many programs for analyzing genetic linkage and association.
§ the costs are approximate and will vary with the exchange rate with EURO.
