Ning Xu Landén 2020 Year’s Winner of the LEO Foundation Award
Associate Professor Ning Xu Landén, Group Leader at CMM is the winner of this year’s LEO Foundation Award in Region EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). She was awarded USD 100,000 in recognition of “her significant contribution to unravel the roles of regulatory RNAs in wound healing”.
“LEO Foundation Awards are given to outstanding young researchers, whose work advance our understanding of the skin and its diseases and have the potential to pave the way for new and improved treatments.” (LEO Foundation press release)
Chronic hard-to-heal wounds are an increasing health problem and currently there are no effective treatments. The LEO Foundation considers Ning’s research niche to be an emerging concept that provides hope to develop novel, improved RNA-based therapies for human skin wounds.
In the LEO Foundation press release about the award, Associate Professor Ning is praised for being a young skillful and passionate researcher with major and highly promising scientific accomplishments. Moreover, the foundation also wanted to highlight the positive role of the setting in which Ning’s research is performed, emphasizing the interdisciplinarity and strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups.
