Neurology is the field of diseases that affect the nervous system. The nervous system consists of the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) and of the peripheral nervous system (nerve threads in the body). It is the nervous system that sends and receives information from different parts of the body, and when the information flow fails the functioning of our bodies is affected.
There are many different neurological diseases as a result of the fact that we have nerves throughout the body. Neurological diseases may have different degrees of severity, ranging from migraines to Parkinson's disease and fatal ALS.
