KIGene has merged with the in situ/imaging CF at CMM that has a 20 year track record of tissue based expression analysis.

We will establish a hub for Digital Spatial Profiling (DSP) technologies at KIGene and as a first step we will later this year introduce the GeoMX platform from nanoString Technologies. The GeoMX enables spatially resolved, digital characterization of proteins or mRNA on tissue slides at a high multiplex without requirements for isotopes, secondary antibodies or amplifications.


About us

KIGene, former KISeq, is a well-established node at Karolinska Institutet with more than twenty-five years experiences of running a core facility. We offer genetic analyses, covering DNA sequencing, gene expression and genotyping, as well as epigenetic analysis mainly aiming at small to medium size projects.


Fast, flexible and accessible services and support

Our vision is to provide a high quality, reliable, high efficiency and flexible core facility. In order to meet the increasing demand on higher throughput and efficiency, as well as on cheaper analyses, we have introduced several options for gene expression and genetic variations, including single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), microsatellite markers, insertion/deletion polymorphisms and copy number variation (CNV).

We provide flexible service levels; “hands-on” and “hands-off”. For “hands-on” we offer theoretical and technical start up assistance and the users may after that book and operate the instruments themselves under our expert guidance. For “hands-off”, the users provide starting materials and we perform the analyses.
